Rain outside my window, thundering down, smashing against my windows like the sea spray against the lonely lighthouse out on Fastnet Rock.

I cannot see it, all I see is the pitch black of night outside my window, cold and uninviting.

I try not to think of going out into it, I distract myself by huddling near the fire or the glow of a standing lamp.

But I know one day, I will have to grab my raincoat, and my flashlight, and venture out into the rainy dark beyond my back door.
